Rooting For Health: Going Beyond Symptom Treatment

For anyone looking for relief to their chronic health challenges..

Welcome to Our Health Journey

Are you struggling to find lasting and TRUE resolution to your chronic health challenges? Have you gone everywhere and tried everything? Do you find yourself constantly seeking the next pill or protocol that will bring you the relief you so badly want (and deserve)?

Welcome to our very flawed healthcare system that is leaving too many beautiful souls underserved and suffering. Many of our current medical approaches focus on treating the symptoms instead of getting down to the root of the problem. When we only suppress what’s going on instead of addressing the underlying mechanism, we won’t find the lasting relief we need.

To paint a better picture, let’s imagine a tree…

Every branch on this tree represents your symptoms. Those are anything that you feel, any diagnoses, or medical issues.

Symptoms appear like this:

  • Acne
  • Rashes
  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Cancer
  • Gray hair
  • Dry skin
  • Lethargy
  • Anxiety
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Digestive issues
  • Chronic disease

All of it, you name it, it goes on the tree as a branch, it is a symptom.

Now, current medical approaches work by targeting the branches. If your branch is acne, they will treat the acne. What’s missing is what is the cause of the acne, and to understand that, we must go deeper.

So keep picturing your tree, and look down from the branches into the soil the tree’s roots live in.

The roots of the tree are what take in nutrients and send them to our branches, so if something is going awry at the top of the tree, we’ve got to see what’s going on beneath the surface.

These roots exist in a terrain (The soil) that is causing these symptoms. These symptom branches are like flags being waved by our body (or the tree) to show something here is out of balance, something is going on and needs our love and attention to address.

When we don’t do the work to look deeper, and we simply chop off a branch, that branch may temporarily disappear (your symptoms), but if the soil wasn’t fixed, the branch will grow back, potentially even worse! We’re not finding any true resolution because we simply didn’t fix the problem.

The roots and the soil are where the true work is done to set you free and to really start transforming your health.

So what does this actually mean for you? It means that when you take a pill for the ill, you may not get better because you’re not tending to what’s causing the ill in the first place. Which is a major flaw in our current medical system and a current strength of alternative systems (like Traditional Chinese Medicine, Functional Medicine, Herbalism, and Ayurveda). All of these modalities take into consideration the individual and are keen on getting down to the root of the issue.

They are less interested in simply taking away your symptom; they are interested in restoring your health!

And while that sounds lovely (and it is), it does take time to address something at the root, or even uncover what that root cause is! (And spoiler alert, there is never just one root cause; there are usually multiple causes that are complex and must be teased out over time).

So when we do bring in herbs or nutrients to treat symptoms, we do so knowing that it is to bring you temporary relief and a better quality of life with the optimistic hope you will continue doing the work to find true resolution on a deeper level.

This deeper resolution not only helps bring your body back into balance and restore system health, it takes you on a journey within to really understand your health and how you got to where you are. It makes you an active participant in the healing journey, which is a crucial step.

So you may hear a lot of hoopla about treating symptoms and getting down to the root. It’s trendy right now to focus on root cause resolution and trendy to disparage anyone who simply treats symptoms. But let me tell you that the terrain is complicated, and your quality of life is what matters most.

You must find relief so you can have the space and energy to work towards true health on the deepest levels. Symptom treatment is helpful, but it’s not where the story stops; it’s merely a tool along the way.

One thing to cautiously note… There is a difference between treating symptoms with herbs and nutrients and pharmaceutical drugs. Pharmaceutical drugs not only suppress symptoms, leading people to miss the deeper work that needs to be done, they come with nasty side effects that lead to more complications, disease, and unwellness.

If you are only willing to treat your symptoms, I highly encourage you to do it as gently and naturally as you can to prevent further complications on your journey toward vibrant health and hearty living.

Namaste.
