Why Standard Treatments Fail — and How a Root-Cause, Whole-Body Approach Can Finally Bring You Relief
One BILLION people. That’s how many are affected by migraines in the world today. And that number is expected to grow — not shrink.
Migraines are an extremely debilitating condition — a major contributor to global disability, and they rank second as a leading cause of lost healthy life.
Pardon my boldness…
But I’m going to make a statement that will either give you hope or hit a nerve.
Your migraines are not a mystery. They are not genetic. They are not unsolvable.
While I hope that brings relief, for many, the immediate reaction is to challenge the notion — and that makes perfect sense considering what you’ve most likely gone through.
You’ve seen countless specialists, neurologists, and primary care doctors. You’ve tried medication after medication — maybe you’ve had temporary relief, but you’re still not pain-free. And now, you’re managing side effects too.
You feel defeated. And with all you’ve been through, the idea that the answer could be simple just doesn’t align with your lived experience.
All I want to say is: I see you. I hear you. I feel your pain. Health and happiness are your birthright, and living with migraines is something no one should have to endure.
As you continue reading, I have one ask: stay open. Just because you haven’t found something that works doesn’t mean it’s not out there — it just means you haven’t found it yet.
How I Can Help When No One Else Can
I’ll cut to the chase — I’m not special, but the work I do is. Your migraines aren’t a mystery. You just haven’t worked with someone who has looked at the full map yet. One that considers the terrain, the whole picture, the connection between body and mind.
A Reframe on Your Migraines
When your body is struggling with migraines, the migraines themselves are what we call a symptom. A symptom is your body’s way of raising its hand to alert you that something is not right. Something below the surface needs attention.
The symptom itself is not the problem (although to you, it’s the problem because it interferes with your ability to show up fully in life). But to your body, it’s how it communicates and gets your attention.
The symptom is not the problem — and the solution is not treating the symptom.
Modern Medicine only focuses on Symptoms
One of the biggest missteps modern medicine has taken is its hyper-focus on symptom management — and as we now know, this doesn’t address the real problem.
When the body waves its hand asking for support — when it gives us symptoms — treating only those symptoms is like silencing the alarm instead of putting out the fire. We ignore the message and attack the messenger.
It’s imperative we stop and ponder: Why is this problem arising in the first place? What is it trying to show us? And most importantly: How do we respond to that with true support instead of suppression?
Treating symptoms doesn’t work. It may temporarily mask pain or discomfort, but if we aren’t addressing the root cause, the problem will keep popping up — or manifest in a new form.
And when we lean heavily on aggressive treatments (like drug therapies), we often end up with even more imbalance — additional side effects, or entirely new physiological challenges.
What Migraines are Trying Telling Us
Migraines are essentially instability in the body, or a lack of homeostasis. This is what makes your body hyper-reactive to your environment.
Think of all your migraine triggers — things that seem harmless to others, but for you, cause immense pain and suffering. (Bright lights, a stressful day, chocolate, a poor night’s sleep, a strong smell.) All things that are — at some point — unavoidable.
The question shouldn’t be: How do I avoid all the triggers?
It should be: How do I make my body more stable and less reactive to the environment around me?
When the body becomes stable, it can withstand your typical ‘triggers’ without reacting — which means: yay, no migraine just because something small and silly happened in your day.
(Moving to the woods might help 😉)
We Must Also Consider That No Two Migraines Are the Same
It’s another challenge that leaves far too many people falling through the cracks.
The lack of individualized care means people are being treated like “migraines” instead of unique humans navigating a very real and very trying situation.
Do not forget — you are unique, and so are your migraines.
In order to find real relief, we must not just acknowledge but honor your constitution, your history, and your personal blueprint.
Medications are standardized to work for the majority — but what works for the majority doesn’t always work for the individual. And even when it does, it doesn’t always work well.
A lack of customized, individualized care leaves practitioners unable to color outside the lines — and people stuck suffering in a model that was never built to fit them.
Everyone’s migraines are different. How their body came to have the migraine is different. How they experience them is different. And their path to relief? Also different.
What’s Underlying the Migraines?
So if your migraines are unique to you, what’s actually driving them?
There are often multiple things happening inside the body that contribute to instability — and in turn, lead to a hyper-reactive migraine response.
The body is extremely interconnected, and if we don’t zoom out and consider that, we miss the chance to understand why the migraines are happening — and what to actually do about them.
Here are just some of the possible contributors:
-
Food sensitivities
-
Digestive issues
-
Liver congestion
-
Hormonal imbalances
-
Blood sugar imbalance
-
Nutrient deficiencies
-
Detoxification issues
-
Immune deficiency
-
Unresolved emotional conflict
Note: It’s often more than one, and may take time to tease out — especially if medications are part of the picture.
And the longer we’ve lived with migraines — or the more medications we’ve tried — the more layered the picture becomes. But that doesn’t mean healing isn’t possible. It just means we have to start with curiosity and care.
What Actually Leads to Relief
It might sound silly, but a lot of the answers aren’t in some future development of a new migraine drug.
They’re in the past — in ancient Eastern wisdom that holds timeless truths about the human body and its challenges.
So what is the answer — if it’s not another prescription or specialist referral?
➤ We are all unique, and our health should be approached in a way that honors that. Taking time to understand not just what someone has (migraines), but who has the migraines — that’s the difference between staying stuck and breaking free. Individualized care that meets you where you are, understands your unique situation, experiences, constraints, additional symptoms, energetic imbalances, and constitution — holds the keys to knowing where to place support and how to move forward.
➤ Everything is connected. Pain in the head might be caused by liver heat, hormonal imbalance, or digestive fire depletion. Migraines don’t exist in a vacuum — they’re part of a whole system, and attached to a complex person. We must look at the body this way to truly understand it. These connections show us where to place support, what resources to bring in, and what feedback to look for. It gives us shortcuts to healing.
➤ We have control. Your health is not a genetic sentence. The things you do daily — your food, movement, thoughts, relationships, herbs, and routines — all shape your outcomes. The goal? Move everything in the direction of dynamic health. And even though we have control, we may still need guidance to show us how to love and support our body through this complex challenge.
And as a bonus reminder: people are complex. Health challenges are complex.
Sometimes it takes detective work, experimentation, and openness to reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
That’s why it’s so important to never leave any stone unturned. Start with simplicity. Move to complexity when needed. And never overlook basic human truths and needs.
Is There Hope?
Although there are 1 billion people suffering with migraines today, I take my role seriously — to serve as many as I can.
And when I say there is hope, I mean it with 100% conviction from the bottom of my heart.
Natural medicine (when used correctly) is dynamic, dramatic, and effective.
Our success rate for migraines is around 99%.
Those are odds worth betting on.
The worst that can happen is… it works.
Never forget Health and Happiness Are Your Birthright
